Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks for all that we have, and what better way to do that than by volunteering your time to help others? There are many great opportunities to volunteer in Florida for Thanksgiving, and we’ve compiled a list of a few of our favorites below.
FOR SEASONS MINISTRIES

UNITED WAY
Nov 19 @ 9:00 am – Nov 23 @ 3:00 pm
Does your family have a favorite holiday tradition? The Heart of Florida United Way family’s favorite annual tradition is our Thanksgiving Project, and we are so excited to share it with you!
During this meaningful event, HFUW team members, board members, volunteers, donors, and sponsors come together to help Central Florida families in need by assembling and distributing Thanksgiving meal kits throughout Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties.
These meal kits help make sure our neighbors — including our ALICE families who are Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed — can enjoy a warm Thanksgiving meal at home with their own traditions.
This year, we will distribute 5,000 kits to feed 20,000 people — and we need your help! Are you ready to LIVE UNITED to feed Central Florida families?
There are volunteer opportunities open to all ages (with adult supervision) ranging from packing kits to making cards and helping distribute meal kits at one of three distribution locations.
This year’s volunteer shifts for Thanksgiving Project are available from November 19 to November 23, 2024!

FOOD BANK VOLUNTEERS NEEDED ‘SORT AND PACK’
Thanksgiving 2024- Food For Families Sorting and Packing Events – 11/9, 11/16, 11/23 @ 9:00am-12pm
Southeastern Food Bank along with Publix Super Markets and hundreds of volunteers from the local community will un-load, set up, sort and pack 2000+ boxes of food to be delivered through out the central Florida area this fall. The goal of this event is to bring the community together.
We always have an amazing turn out every year including families, churches, schools, athletic teams, and other civic organizations who take time out of their busy schedules to unite and make a positive impact in the community. While the food helps meet the immediate need in the community, the joint effort of putting ourselves aside to help others is really what will make way for a better tomorrow.

VISTE’s 28th ANNUAL THANKSGIVING MEAL DELIVERY
Wednesday, November 27th, 2024
Join us for VISTE’s 28th Annual Thanksgiving Meal Delivery and help brighten the holidays for seniors in need! This family-friendly event is a local tradition and helps kick off the holiday season. There are numerous ways to participate and to help! Prior to the event we hold the Green Bean Snap and “Operation Cranberry.” In addition, local school children decorate meal bags and placemats, and others create craft items to share.
On the morning of the event, volunteers prep and pack Thanksgiving meals at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland. In the afternoon, hundreds of volunteer drivers pick up the meals, as well as a beautiful poinsettia and other treats (using convenient drive-through lanes) and deliver to grateful VISTE clients. Volunteer as a family, with friends, or with your colleagues!
