Mascotte, FL – Two long-awaited residential developments in Mascotte are inching closer to reality. Heron’s Glen and Loucks Island have been in the planning stages for years, but recent city council meetings have brought them one step closer to breaking ground.
Heron’s Glen, originally proposed in 2006, is the furthest along. The project has secured construction permits and is now in the final design phase, according to Flagship Land Group. D.R. Horton will build the community, which will feature 999 homes, including single-family homes and townhouses. Amenities will include a clubhouse, pool, pickleball courts, and walking trails. Construction is expected to begin before the year’s end.
Loucks Island, a 187-acre project, is also in the works. However, the city council has delayed final approval of construction plans pending the completion of other necessary permits. The proposed community includes 210 homes on 60-foot lots.
Both developments are situated amidst natural wetlands and are expected to stimulate commercial growth in the area.
