The South Lake Chamber of Commerce recently hosted a breakfast meeting at the picturesque Sterling Event Venue in Clermont. This Tuscan-inspired wedding destination served as the perfect backdrop for the event, which brought together Mayor Pat Kelley, city staff, and community stakeholders.
The breakfast was a platform to discuss the exciting developments and projects underway in the thriving city of Minneola. One of the major announcements was the purchase of a new Tower Truck for the city’s fire department, signaling a need for additional personnel. Mayor Kelley introduced the new Fire Chief, Daniel DiBasie, who shared his vision for expanding the department’s capabilities. The newly constructed fire station, located near City Hall, is set to become operational soon.
Another significant announcement was the unveiling of a new city logo, designed in collaboration with Julianna Green of Everything Local. The logo reflects Minneola’s growth and identity.
The breakfast also covered a range of other exciting projects, including:
- A new library: Plans are underway to build a modern library on the site of the former city hall and public works buildings.
- Enhanced recreational spaces: The city is committed to developing a new trailhead and community garden.
- Future developments: A playground, splash pad, soccer and baseball fields are in the works, with more projects on the horizon.
- Infrastructure improvements: Updates were provided on the Hancock Extension, Citrus Grove, Scrub Jay, and Education Way.
- Educational expansion: A new Lake County K-8 school is scheduled to open in August 2025.
- Healthcare advancements: A state-of-the-art 80-bed health facility with 24 ER bays is set to open near the Turnpike by December 2025.
- Economic development: The Crooked Can Brewery, a 40,000-square-foot destination featuring live entertainment, an outdoor beer garden, and a food hall, is expected to open later this year.
Beyond these specific projects, the event also discussed the city’s vision for the future, including the development of the Minneola Town Center and Minneola Ridge.
